About Skipolini's Pizza
Skipoliniโs Pizza stands as a testament to the enduring power of family values, quality craftsmanship, and community dedication in the restaurant industry. Founded on May 3rd, 1974, by Bev and Skip Ipsen in Clayton, California, this beloved pizza establishment has grown from a single location housed in a converted family residence into a multi-location operation serving the East Bay, Northern Sacramento Area, and Reno. The Antioch location at 901 Fitzuren Rd, Antioch, CA 94509, represents one of the key destinations where customers can experience the authentic Italian and American cuisine that has made Skipoliniโs a regional institution for over five decades.[1][2]
The foundation of Skipoliniโs Pizza rests upon a remarkably simple yet powerful business philosophy that has remained unchanged since its inception. Bev and Skip Ipsen established their restaurant with three core principles: providing high-quality food, creating a unique and family-friendly environment, and maintaining affordable prices for all customers.[1] This commitment to accessibility without compromising on quality has been the driving force behind the restaurantโs sustained success across multiple decades. The original location, once a residence that would later be occupied by the Clayton post office and a craft store, set the stage for what would become a cherished gathering place for families throughout the region.[1]
What truly distinguishes Skipoliniโs Pizza from countless other pizza establishments is not merely the quality of its food, but the stories and traditions that have become woven into its identity. Most notably, the restaurant gained widespread recognition for its legendary โPrego Pizza,โ a creation born from an unexpected encounter in the spring of 1981. When a pregnant woman desperate to induce labor visited the Clayton location, a compassionate manager created an extraordinary pizza loaded with thirteen different toppings, including extra onions, extra garlic, six types of meat, and fresh vegetables. The pizza weighed over four pounds and, remarkably, the woman went into labor that same evening.[3] This serendipitous event launched the Prego Pizza into local and national prominence, with its story documented in prestigious publications including Gourmet Magazine, Pizza Today, and featured on news outlets such as CNN, KTVU channel 2, and KPIX channel 5.[3]
The Antioch location continues this proud legacy, serving as a welcoming destination for pizza enthusiasts and families seeking authentic Italian cuisine combined with American favorites. Customers can reach the Antioch restaurant at +1 925-757-7770 to place orders, make reservations, or inquire about the full menu offerings. The restaurantโs commitment to quality extends beyond its famous pizza to include other Italian and American specialties, gluten-free options, Skipโs Famous Sangrias, gelato, and signature salads like the Chicken Caesar and Caprese.[2]
Operating across multiple locations including Antioch, Clayton, Concord, and Rocklin, Skipoliniโs Pizza has successfully maintained its family-oriented values while expanding its reach.[4] The business represents more than just a place to eat; it embodies a multi-generational commitment to community, quality, and the simple belief that great food, served in a welcoming environment at fair prices, creates lasting memories and traditions. For over fifty years, Skipoliniโs has proven that this philosophy resonates deeply with customers who return generation after generation, making it a cornerstone of the regional dining landscape.

Had a great time here. Food was really good. Ordered regular crust, maybe a little thick on the crust? Service was alright, felt a little rushed? Anyway overall it was fine. Would recommend.

Food here is terrible now. I had been coming here for YEARS. This was before they remodeled and when they had the saw dust still in. It was a regular place my family would go to and the pizza was great! Every time I come back to Antioch to visit, I give this place a try again. I get my hopes up and am more and more disappointed each time. The pizza is dry, not enough cheese or sauce, and way too expensive for what it is. The price is insane for such a terrible pizza. Honestly, I wouldโve enjoyed Dominos or Pizza Hut more than here and wouldโve paid half the price. The only reason I give this place a shot each time is because it is a good spot for family to get together and for the kids to have a place to play.

8.2 ๐ฅ. I really enjoyed the vibes here, love the outdoor play area for kids and adults. Plenty of seating with heaters if needed. The pizza ๐ was good, nice thick crust with plenty of sauce. Pizza was a little too floppy for me but still a great tasting pie. This location has a bar with plenty of option on tap. When in the area be sure to check this place out.
